Some of the best stories in the Star Wars universe are played out in the game. Even if a player has chosen the Galactic Republic, they can still pursue their own goals and be more in touch with the Dark Side. However, joining a particular faction doesn't limit players from focusing on their individual morality. Players can join as members of either of the two factions, aligning themselves with the Dark or Light Side of the Force. There was a brief peace between the Galactic Republic and the re-emerging Sith Empire, but conflict has broken out once more. The plot of the game takes place more than 3,600 years before the Star Wars films but 300 years after the age of Knights of the Old Republic.
